Real Madrid's players portrayed as hyenas

[VIDEO PICK: Off the Post] Spain's longest running soap opera birthed a hilarious new plot twist last week when Catalonia's TV3 aired a spoof comparing Los Blancos' players to hyenas hunting Lionel Messi in packs, and Real Madrid responded by threatening legal action.

It’s been a rough year at the Bernabeu with infighting, rumors that Cristiano Ronaldo and Jose Mourinho might leave, and worst of all the reigning La Liga champions sit 16 points behind their archrivals in Barcelona, who seem to be everybody’s darling.

Program directors in Catalonia also look to have the upper hand on their adversaries in the capital, where Madrid’s press is always eager to take the bait. Uproar caused TV3 to apologize for producing the clip, calling it an “unfortunate metaphor,” but Real Madrid’s lawsuit could still go forward, as ratings soar upward.

The popular Punto Pelota in Madrid simultaneously addressed this grave matter, scouted their rivals at TV3, and helped out with Spain’s spiraling unemployment -- by putting eight bodies in studio to analyze the crucial game film.
