Back in Puebla, 30 years later

[HISTORY BOOK] Tab Ramos was only 16 years old when he traveled to Mexico to represent the USA at the 1983 World Youth Championship. Thirty years later, he returns to Puebla, site of the USA'a 1-0 win over Ivory Coast, its first victory ever in a FIFA youth world championship, this time as head coach of the same U.S. U-20s for the Concacaf qualifying tournament.

Ramos came off the bench in the second half of the game won on current Virginia coach George Gelnovatch's goal.

Ramos went on the play with U-20 teammate Paul Caligiuri at the 1990 and 1994 World Cups. Hugo Perez later played in the 1994 World Cup and is the U.S. U-14 national team coach.

Perez and Jeff Hooker played for the USA a year later at the 1984 Olympics.

The 1-0 win followed a 3-2 loss to Uruguay that was regarded at the time one of the best displays ever by an American team.

A 2-0 loss to Poland knocked the USA out in the first round.
