COLORADO. Matt Dunn, a former member of the U.S. U-20 and U-17 national team, has joined the Colorado Rapids for Friday's split-squad doubleheader in Santa Barbara, Calif. The 19-year-old Texan spent time in the U-17 residency program before moving to German (FC Cologne) and then to Serbia (where he has been playing for OFK Beograde).

NEW YORK. In need of bench strength -- something they lacked under the previous regime -- the Red Bulls picked up midfield journeyman Jonny Steele, whose MLS first right of refusal was acquired from Real Salt Lake in exchange for a conditional supplemental draft pick. The Northern Ireland midfielder made a name for himself in the U.S. lower divisions (Rochester and Carolina) before joining RSL.

SEATTLE.
One of the invitees who started in the Sounders' 2-0 win over New York on Wednesday was forward Travis Bowen, a 2012 JC All-American at Oxnard College. He is the older brother of Tristan Bowen, MLS's first homegrown signing now with Chivas USA, and has played in the PDL with the Ventura County Fusion and Portland Timbers U23s.
