Cuba makes history

[CONCACAF UNDER-20 CHAMPIONSHIP] Aricheell Hernandez scored two superb goals to lead Cuba to a 2-1 win over Costa Rica in the quarterfinals of the Concacaf Under-20 Championship that sends it to the Under-20 World Cup for the first time. The win was revenge for a 6-1 loss to the Ticos two years ago and ends their string of three straight trips to the world championships.

Hernandez came flying down the right side to put away the first goal after being set up by Hector Morales.

Cuba was the better team all evening at the Estadio Universitario BUAP, but Costa Rica equalized on David Ramirez's goal in the 41st minute.

With 10 minutes remaining in regulation, Hernandez struck again with a well-placed shot after being fed the ball on a platter by Maykel Reyes.

The win moves Cuba into Friday's semifinals against the USA.
