Fourth-round Supplemental Draft pick Morgan debuts in Week 1

[MLS ROOKIE WATCH] Five rookies -- four taken in the first round of the SuperDraft, plus Seattle's homegrown signing DeAndre Yedlin -- started on opening day of the 2013 MLS season. Perhaps the rookie most surprised to earn playing time was 6-foot-5 Englishman Taylor Morgan, who was taken in the fourth round of the Supplemental Draft, making him 92nd out of 105 players taken in the two drafts.

Morgan, who came on for the last 15 minutes of Toronto's 1-0 loss at Vancouver, is a classic targetman. He had 23 goals in three seasons at George Mason after transferring from Central Connecticut State.

He says his ability to adapt to the Toronto system under new coach Ryan Nelsen was a big reason he made the team.
