Wambach closes in on Hamm record

[USA-ICELAND] The USA defeated Iceland, 3-0, Wednesday to open play at the Algarve Cup in Portugal. U.S. defender Rachel Buehler celebrated her 100th with a goal and Shannon Boxx and Abby Wambach followed with goals to clinch the win. For Wambach, the goal was 154th of her international career and puts her with four of tying Mia Hamm's record.

After a sluggish first half, the USA came out in the second half and quickly took the lead when Buehler scored with a header off Lauren Cheney's corner kick for her fourth international goal.

Boxx's goal in the 62nd minute also came off on a header on a sequence that began with a Cheney corner.

Alex Morgan's hustle set up Wambach's easy goal to close out the scoring in the 74th minute.

Making just her third career start, U.S. goalkeeper Jill Loyden had just one save.

Crystal Dunn, the 2012 Soccer America Player of the Year at North Carolina, made her first start at the senior level, going the full 90 minutes at right back.

Next up: China Friday at the Municipal Stadium in Albufeira (TV: Pay-Per-View 9 a.m. ET).
