Costa Rica calls up Red Bulls' Roy Miller

[HEXAGONAL COUNTDOWN] Roy Miller, the goat in the New York Red Bulls' 2-1 loss at San Jose Sunday night, is among 13 foreign-based players Costa Rica called up for its World Cup qualifiers against the USA March 22 in Commerce City, Colo., and March 26 against Jamaica. Alvaro Saborio (Real Salt Lake) and Jairo Arrieta (Columbus Crew) were also called up.

The only surprise in Coach Jorge Luis Pinto's 23-player squad is Alajuelense midfielder Diego Calvo.

The Ticos are coming off a 2-2 tie at Panama in their Hexagonal opener.

Defenders: Juan Diego Madrigal (Santos), Christian Gamboa (Rosenborg, Norway), Michael Umana (Saprissa), Johnny Acosta (Dorados, Mexico), Giancarlo Gonzalez (Valerenga, Norway), Roy Miller (New York Red Bulls) Bryan Oviedo (Everton, England),  Christopher Meneses (Alajuelense).

    After the call, the NYRB need to trade or drop Miller; his tenure with the RB has been mediocre at best, and a disaster against San Jose...he brings nothing to the offense and on defense he is highly overrated...time to reorganize the defense and get better team shape and movement, or else this season will go up in smoke.
