Florida teams support Rachel Price's family

[MEMORIAL] The Florida Premier League's Space Coast United organized a memorial game last Sunday to support the family and memory of U.S. U-18 international
Rachel Price, who was killed in a car accident caused by a drunk driver Feb. 28 in St. Cloud, Fla. She was considered one of the best players to come out of
Florida in the last 10 years and battled back from a knee injury and the autoimmune disease lupus to make the Division II Eckerd College team as a freshman, finishing tied for third on the team with
three goals in just four games. A friend, 19-year-old Jamaree Cook, was also killed in the accident.
Price, a former Florida High School Class 5A
and 6A Player of the Year, also played for the Tampa Bay United Hellenic women’s team. SCU, TBU Hellenic all took part in the memorial game, and TBU Hellenic and Eckerd both plan to establish
scholarships in her name.
“It’s always about the kids, and when you lose one of them, it hits you really hard,” said TBU Hellenic coach George Fotopoulos, whose wife Danielle coached Price at Eckerd. “Even though she’s not one of my four, I always consider her part of
my family.”
