Maradona's still got it, kind of

[VIDEO PICK: Diego] A 52-year-old Diego Maradona lashing an impressive strike in Qatar last week, that didn't go in, days before comparing the first ever election of an Argentine Pope to one of his most famous goals.

Diego's letter from Dubai to Rome’s Il Messaggero declaring his happiness about the election of Pope Francis included the following passage that was vintage Maradona.

"Everybody in Argentina can remember 'the hand of God' in the England match in the 1986 World Cup. Now, in my country, the 'hand of God' has brought us an Argentine pope."

Forever humble, it’s not surprising the world still revolves around Diego, especially given his current physique. Looking woefully unfit jogging down the right wing, but once the ball is in the air Maradona chests it down, nods it past, and whips a nice strike that’s not far off.

Supposedly, he had two goals and an assist in this 7-v-7 game, but did you really click on an article about Diego Maradona in pursuit of verifiable facts?
