Cavalry called to clear crossbar covered with bees in Brazil

[VIDEO PICK: Off the Post] A game in Brazil’s first division was stopped to clear a swarm of bees using everything from fire, the fire department, a fire truck, gasoline, a ladder, beekeeping suits, a hefty bag, and a fire extinguisher, before continuing on.

Second in Campeonato Paulista, Ponte Prente won 2-1 at home in Sao Paolo over Atletico Sorocaba on Saturday, when a menacing glob of buzzing intruders stole the spotlight. It’s pretty hard to believe this whole fiasco lasted only 15 minutes, as reported.

Ponte Prente officials realized they were out of their depth after attempting to burn the swarm of bees off the crossbar. The fire department and beekeepers were called upon, who quickly demonstrated they had no problem taking this situation to the next level, one that won’t find them on PETA’s mailing list any time soon.

The preferred locale for all national teams during the summer of 2014, no matter what happens in Brazil, the beautiful game must go on …
