Kevin Trapp, Eintracht Frankfurt's 22-year-old starting goalkeeper, will miss the rest of the Bundesliga season after breaking his hand during a commercial shoot.
Trapp was to appear in a publicity campaign for Germany's U-23 national team, for which he was slated to start against Israel on Sunday, when he fell and suffered the injury.
"The injury to Kevin Trapp is unfortunate for Eintracht Frankfurt and certainly a major setback," Eintracht chief executive Heribert Bruchhagen said. "The medical prognosis is especially bitter. The medical prognosis is especially bitter. ... We will discuss together with the German [soccer federation] and analyze exactly how the accident happened."
Trapp said: "I don't know what happened. I started walking and all of a sudden I was down on the ground."
