[MLS SPOTLIGHT] Former MLS player Juan Francisco Palencia has been named director of soccer for both Chivas de
Guadalajara and Chivas USA. He joins Dutchman Dennis te Kloese, appointed sporting director for both Chivas teams in December 2012, as the head of soccer
operations for the two clubs.
Palencia, 39, played 32 games over two seasons with Chivas USA in 2005 and 2006, its first two in MLS. He returned to Mexico in 2007 and played four more seasons at Mexico.
He had represented Mexico at the 1998 and 2002 World Cups and finished his international career in 2009 with 80 caps.
