The Galaxy dominated the run of play from the outset, but went down in the 41st minute when a Frankfurt corner kick found the head of
Luca Schnellbacher put Eintracht ahead in the 41st minute, but Paul Arriola, who spent the MLS preseason with the Galaxy first team, equalized in the 60th minute. Drew Murphy won the game for the Galaxy with a goal in the 90th minute.
The other U.S. entrants, the Dallas Texans, dropped a 1-0 decision to Kashiwa Reysol of Japan. The other MLS entrant, Toronto FC, lost to Aalborg of Denmark, 2-0.
The Houston Dynamo Academy U-17/18s are playing in the U-19 group, where they opened with a 7-0 win over England's Tower Football Academy.
