FMF secretary general: 'We're with Chepo 100 percent'

[MEXICO] Jose Manuel de la Torre's reign as Mexico national team coach began with 12 wins in 12 competitive games -- six wins at the 2011 Gold Cup and six wins in the semifinal stage of World Cup qualifying -- but he went a little too far when he said before the Hexagonal Mexico's goal was to sweep all 10 games.

Famous last words from the man they call "Chepo."

Mexico is winless in three games, and following its latest tie Tuesday night against the United States, Mexican federation (FMF) secretary general Fernando Cerrilla was forced to issue a statement of support for de la Torre.

"The results have not been there," Cerrilla said the day after the 0-0 tie with the United States left the Tri in fifth place in the Hexagonal with three ties in three games, "but we still don't have a loss in competitive play. No doubt: Jose Manuel de la Torre will complete the cycle. We are with Chepo 100 percent."

Cerrilla called for calm.

"We played just three of 10 games, and 21 points are still up for grabs," he added. "We must keep our feet on the ground, ready for what's coming, stay focused. We know that we have to be well prepared to face Jamaica, Panama and Costa Rica."

The Jamaica match was moved forward from June 18 to June 4 because Mexico is playing in the Confederations Cup in Brazil as Gold Cup champion. Mexico also has its Gold Cup title defense in July so it will be a long summer for the Tri.

"Of course, having three points out nine was not in our plan," added Cerrilla. "The team is tight and there is still a chance to move up."

"The team is tight"?? WTF?? Maybe there is something lost in translation.....Luis, please explain......and I like how there is no reference to them only having three home games remaining......stinks of how pompous asses they are that the conclusion is they think the other five nations will just role over for them when they come calling to those away games....."we still don't have a loss"??????? No, but you are only one of two teams that have been shut-out twice in the Hex's first three games......see, I could do this all day......"We know we have to be well prepared to face Jam. Pan. & CR...", oh is that to say the same preparation wasn't necessary for the game in your beloved Azteca against the U.S.A....?.....Helloooooooooo?

Not to overcome an advantage that everyone said Mexico had even though none of their players play in Mexico City. Mexico played well enough to deserve 6 points in its first 3 games. Refs blunders made it 4 points. USA played well enough for 2 points but got 4. Thats soccer but by the end of this Hex everyone will be closer to where they deserve. But hey maybe if we keep bunkering in the snow we will go to the top and win it all in Brazil!!! Go USa!!! I mean stay back USA!!!

Even I, have come to expect better than that post from you. Keep plugging away with your agenda, even as your few dominions jump your pathetic ship brother....! The sad part is, you actually show all the signs that you really believe your crap! I would think that 22 players who take the field 99.99% of the time will determine the outcome. Don't you find it a little repetative, even for you, to keep blaming the referees, or circumstance?? And lastly, doesn't playing well mean you are actually able to finish and put the ball into the opponents goal? Afterall, Law 10 says that's how you score.....didn't find any law referring to style. Dude, you're sinking.

There is probably no other sport where a ref influences a game so much. That is why you see refs behind goals now. 22 players who take the field wiil determine the outcome 100% if the ref does his job. If he doesnt that % strongly diminishes. A good ref would have called the 2nd penalty alone and would have ignored Chgicahros along with Costlys. Most of us can agree with that if we use logic. That said, what matters is that every team in this Hex is due a bad call or 2 so it will even out eventually. Barca played well vs Chelsea but Chelsea did what USA did, so no, playing well doesnt always mean you will put the ball in the opponents goal even if you are hands down the better team. That is why bunkering is almost always used by the least skilled teams throughoput the world. Because it can be quite effective. This is why Spain has a hard time scoring even though it attacks so well and is regining champ. I have to explain this to you ???

No one is obligated to play the way you feel you are most entertained with it......yawnnnnn....only a stupid manager would stretch his team's shape so Luis can be more entertained......yawnnnn
