Heynckes Fears Juve Attack

Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes was full of praise for Juventus ahead of his team’s UEFA Champions League quarterfinal series opener against the Italian champion at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday. While the Bianconeri are often criticized for lacking a decisive, match-winning striker, Heynckes said Juve is a team to be feared going forward.

“They don’t play catenaccio and they have a very particular offensive organization,” the Bayern coach said, referring to traditional Italian defensive tactics. “I have rarely seen an Italian that is so organized, so unpredictable, when it moves forward.”

Heynckes was also full of praise for Juve’s central midfield trio. “Andrea Pirlo is a genius, while Arturo Vidal and Claudio Marchisio are great champions. We have players of that level too though.”

Juventus is making its first Champions League appearance since 2009. Its last appearance was ironically against Bayern Munich, when it lost 4-1.
