Real Madrid already has eye on semifinals

[UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE] Of the four UEFA Champions League quarterfinals series, the one that looks like it is over is the Real Madrid-Galatasaray series. The Merengues' 3-0 win put them in the driver's seat heading into Tuesday's second leg in Istanbul. Such was the Madrid's confidence was that Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos both received yellow cards that disqualify them for the second leg but clear their slates for the semifinals.

"They need a miracle but there are miracles in football," said Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho. "The history of football is full of miracles, so why can't they dream of a miracle. I have enough experience to understand that we have a very good result but it is not over and I will try everything in my hands to persuade my players that it is not over."

Each of Real Madrid's frontline -- Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain -- came through with goals.

Mourinho denied that Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos picked up their cards on purpose, saying that "it has complicated my plans for Istanbul."
