Concacaf will allow expanded rosters

[GOLD CUP] Concacaf has modified its rules for the 2013 Gold Cup to allow teams that reach the knockout stage to make four roster changes before the quarterfinals.

The one proviso is that the players must come from a preliminary list of 35 players teams must submit 45 days prior to their opening match.

“With the help of our different committees," said Enrique Sanz, the general secretary of Concacaf, "we are constantly evaluating the ways in which we can improve all of our competitions.”

The move will help teams involved in World Cup qualifying that may not want to use regulars for the entire tournament or teams like the USA that must consider the interests of foreign clubs who may not want their players to play the entire tournament.

U.S. Soccer President Sunil Gulati is the chairman of the Gold Cup organizing committee.
