Ronaldinho believes former club Paris Saint-Germain is becoming “more and more like a dream team” and that the only major star missing from its squad is the two-timeWorld Player of the Year himself.
Now 33, Ronaldinho made his PSG debut in 2001 and stayed at the club for two years. “Paris is in my heart, because it’s the first team I played for inEurope,” the Brazil international told French TV station TF1. “Now, PSG is one of the strongest teams in the world. There are a lot of great players and many of my Brazilian friendsplaying there. It’s fantastic to see PSG like that. It’s starting to become like a dream team. There’s only me missing!” PSG is currently seven points ahead of second-place Marseille in Ligue 1 and isstill alive in both the French Cup and UEFA Champions League.
After PSG, Ronaldinho famously transferred to Barcelona, where he won two La Liga titles, the UEFA Champions League and twoconsecutive FIFA World Player of the Year awards in five seasons. He transferred to AC Milan in 2008, but endured a frustrating two-and-a-half years before returning to his native Brazil. The 2002World Cup winner has been reborn at current club Atletico Mineiro, which he recently guided to the Copa Libertadores Round of 16.
“I’d like to win the Brazilian league and the CopaLibertadores, which I didn’t win before I went to Europe,” Ronaldinho said. “That’s why I came back here.” His performances have also earned him a recall to Luiz FelipeScolari’s Brazil squad. ‘Dinho wore the captain’s armband for Brazil over the weekend as it crushed Bolivia 4-0 in a charity match.
