Bayern Denies Pep Talk Ahead of UCL Semi

Last week, after Bayern Munich and Barcelona were paired together in the UEFA Champions League Semifinal Draw, a reporter asked Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes whether he would be consulting Pep Guardiola, the former Barca coach who will be taking Heynckes’ job at the end of the season, prior to the series opener next Tuesday. Clearly offended by the question, Heynckes snapped, "Please respect me and my work! I've never consulted anyone or asked for advice. I do not need anyone to study an opponent."

Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp, whose team is in the other Champions League semifinal against Real Madrid, said that while Heynckes might not be interested in chatting with Guardiola, "I bet my arse that [Bayern general manager] Mr. [Matthias] Sammer and Mr. Guardiola will chat on the phone."

While both Sammer and Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge denied they would be contacting Guardiola for advice, after hearing Klopp’s comments, Sammer said, "I would be a bit cautious about my posterior, because the posterior might not be dispensable in life," while Rummenigge said, "I fear his arse will end up in the club's museum at some point.” He added: “It might have been better if he had bet his hair. He could transplant that. It will get difficult with his arse."
