Kraft Family offers $100,000 matching donation

[BOSTON MARATHON TRAGEDY] The Kraft Family that owns the MLS New England Revolution and NFL Patriots will match donations of up to $100,000 in hopes to assist recovery for victims of the Boston Marathon tragedy.

Revolution keeper Matt Reis' wife, Nicole, was one of runners, and her father, Bob Odom, was injured in Monday's explosion at the site of the Boston Marathon.

Odom, who was visiting from his home in Torrance to watch his daughter run in the marathon, underwent surgery Tuesday to repair his severely traumatized legs.

"We feel that he is now on a long road to recovery," Reis posted on his Facebook page. "We have to take it day by day."

Defender Chris Tierney’s girlfriend was also injured near the finish-line area when the blasts struck, according to NESN.com, and she remained in stable condition at a local hospital.

Thirty-four members of the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation's team of runners had signed up to the marathon and raised $248,000 this year for the Myra Kraft Community MVP Awards honoring the late wife of Patriots and Revs owner Robert Kraft.

The New England Patriots and New England Revolution Charitable Foundations will collect donations online, with funds earmarked to assist with victim recovery. Donations can be made at Patriots.com/donate or RevolutionSoccer.net/donate (please note “Boston Marathon” in field provided).

“We are grieving for the victims of this senseless act,” said Kraft. “It is not lost on us that this tragedy occurred on Patriots Day, at an event where our own staff and their families were participating, and where thousands of runners were raising money for charities with which we are associated either through our Foundation, our alumni or our friends. Our focus is on helping those in need and beginning the healing process. We hope by matching donations we will encourage more people to give.”

looks like there is actually a $10 minimum donation and that the link provided for Revs soccer donatation leads you back into a donation under the New England Patriots.
