[AMERICANS ABROAD] American-German John Anthony Brooks is considered one of the top prospects in German soccer. The20-year-old defender, who says he’ll soon decide between representing the U.S. U-20s or German U-21s this summer, plays for 2. Bundesliga leader Hertha Berlin and his “potential valuation” is put at$45.6 million.

Sky Sports Scout rates him at 60/80, making him a “great prospect.” Itsevaluation describes Brooks:

Standing at 6ft 4in, Brooks is an imposing player – but he is no bruising centre-half [central defender].
Elegant, with a good footballing brain – the fact he has not even been booked for Hertha this seasontells its own story about his game. Clearly good in the air, Brooks is a confident performer and at 20 looks a hugely impressive figure.

Sky Sports Scout put Brooks’ current valueat $7.6 and his potential value at $45.6 million.

  1. would love to get this guy involved with the USMNT. However, Hertha is going up next season so he will have plenty of visibility and he won’t need world cup exposure to get him to the next level. that sounds mercenary and maybe he’s not that calculating, but if Hertha was just mid table this year that might have swayed him already…

  2. Sounds like he will be a natural for the German MNT. Best not to even waste our time.
