As it turns out, Robert Lewandowski may not be leaving Borussia Dortmund after all. On Thursday, the striker’s agent was quoted by German paper Bild as saying:
"We have reached an agreement with a club and intend [Lewandowski] to move this summer.” However, Dortmund general manager Hans-Joachim Watzke denies that talks between the
coveted striker and his current club have failed. "It would be negligent of us not to try to keep probably the best striker in Europe," Watzke told Bild. "It's true that we have discussed new
conditions once again." Lewandowski has scored 34 goals in 42 games, and has found the net in each of his last 12 Bundesliga games.
Meanwhile, Bundesliga champion Bayern Munich, the club
that most publications speculated Lewandowski would be moving to, issued a statement on Friday saying that no contract has been signed. "FC Bayern, contrary to these reports, does not have any
contract with Robert Lewandowski," it said.
Earlier this week, both clubs confirmed that Dortmund playmaker Mario Goetze would be moving to Bayern this summer, after the
German champion triggered the 20-year-old’s $48.2 million release clause. "We are getting 37 million [euros] for Goetze which we don't even want," Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp
said, implying that he doesn't want to let anymore of his star players leave this summer.
