[MEXICO UNDER-20 MEN] Mexico’s under-20 men’s national team, which won the 2013 Concacaf championship, split weekend games on its annual college tour, beating2012 NCAA Division I champion Indiana, 1-0, after falling to Notre Dame, 3-2.

Harrison Shipp and VinceCicciarelli scored less than 13 minutes apart midway through the second half to help Notre Dame to its victory on Friday night before a sellout crowd of 3,007 fans at Alumni Stadium.

Shipp’s wonder strike from 25 yards out came just before the hour mark to break a 1-1 tie. Cicciarelli, a second-half substitute, added a key insurance goal in the 73rd minute, running down along outlet pass on the left side, cutting into the penalty area and pulling goalkeeper Richard Sanchez out of position before scoring into the empty net from12 yards away.

Sanchez, who plays for FC Dallas, was one of three Americans to start for Mexico’s U-20s along with Uvaldo Luna (Tigres) and Julio Morales (Chivas USA).

Freshman Patrick Hodan put Notre Dame on the board in the 19th minute, while Marco Bueno had both goals for Mexico.

A goal in the 31st minute from Alfonso Gonzalez was all Mexico needed inthe 1-0 win over Indiana before 3,343 fans Sunday afternoon.
