FIFA Names Altidore to Anti-Racism Panel

FIFA on Tuesday named AZ Alkmaar striker Jozy Altidore to a new anti-racism task force. The United States international, who received global recognition for his handling of racist abuse directed toward him during a game earlier this season, was named to the 12-man panel along with AC Milan and Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng, English Premier League referee Howard Webb, FIFPro (the global players’ union) head Theo Van Seggelen, outgoing English FA chairman David Bernstein, and the chairmen of FIFA’s disciplinary and ethics committees, among others. The panel is to be chaired by Concacaf President Jeffrey Webb, and will consider the appropriate sanctions to be imposed on clubs for racist abuse by players and fans.
