Donovan Dismisses Man United Rumors

Landon Donovan on Thursday laughed off rumors that he could make a sensational move to Manchester United now that former Everton boss David Moyes is taking the reins at Old Trafford. The Los Angeles Galaxy forward completed two successful short-term loan spells at Goodison Park during the MLS off-season in 2010 and 2012. Moyes had expressed interest in bringing Donovan to Everton on a full time basis.

“Well ... I'm pretty sure that they prefer players that can make penalty kicks,” he said. Donovan has missed two penalty kicks for the Galaxy this year, both in losses. “So perhaps if I can get that back under my belt, I'll have a chance.”

The 31-year-old said he thinks Man United has made the right choice in bringing in Moyes to succeed the retiring Alex Ferguson. “It was, in my opinion, the pretty obvious choice. I think anybody who has come across him probably in his playing career and definitely in his coaching career has a ton of respect for him and is very happy for him,” Donovan said. “I've never heard anybody say a bad thing about him. I have nothing but great memories of my time there, and I think he's going to do really well.”
