Rampant RailHawks take over lead

[NASL REWIND: Week 6]  The Carolina RailHawks got two goals apiece from Brian Shriver -- giving him the NASL scoring lead with five goals -- and Zach Schilawski as they clobbered the winless San Antonio Scorpions, 5-2, to take over the NASL lead.

A stunning goal by Floyd Franks from 25 yards in the 13th minute started the fireworks to the delight of a home crowd of 6,708 at WakeMed Soccer Park.

“There were a lot of good goals and a lot of great passing and there’s a lot to be happy about,” said RailHawks coach Colin Clarke. “It’s a great result and any time you score five goals you’ve got to be pleased, but I don’t like the number two that’s also up on the scoreboard.  We’ve got a good squad of players and we’ll continue to look to improve.”

-- The Fort Lauderdale Strikers won their first game of the season with a 2-1 win over Minnesota United in a game that featured an hour-long delay at Lockhart Stadium due to rain and lightning. Goals from Mark Anderson and David Foley staked the Strikers to a two-goal advantage after less than a quarter of an hour.

-- Michael Cox scored two goals, including a spectacular overhead kick, to lead FC Edmonton to a 3-0 win over the Atlanta Silverbacks, who had keeper Joe Nasco sent off. Daryl Fordyce had the third goal for the Eddies.
