Mexico recalls Peralta, de Nigris and Barrera

[HEXAGONAL COUNTDOWN] Winless with three ties in its first three games in the final round of 2014 World Cup qualifying, Mexico recalled 2012 Olympic hero Oribe Peralta, Aldo de Nigris, who led Monterrey to its third straight Concacaf Champions League title, and Pablo Barrera, who has helped Cruz Azul reach the Torneo Apertura final, for its next three qualifiers, as well as a friendly game against Nigeria May 31 in Houston and the Confederations Cup in June.

Chepo de la Torre's squad included four players from Club America and three from Cruz Azul, the Torneo Clausura finalists.

There are six European-based players in the squad, but Carlos Vela of Spain's Real Sociedad was once again not recalled.

Besides de Nigris, Peralta and Barrera, the only other player who was not with the Tri for the 0-0 tie with the USA in March was Monterrey defender Hiram Mier, a star on Mexico's 2012 Olympic gold-medal team.

Hugo Ayala, Jonny Magallon, Carlos Pena and former Sporting Kansas City striker Omar Bravo, who were with Mexico in March, were dropped.
