Pellegrini Confirms Malaga Departure

Manchester City target Manuel Pellegrini on Wednesday has confirmed that he will leave Málaga at the end of the season. The Chilean coach has been heavily linked with the
vacancy at City after former coach Roberto Mancini was fired on May 13th.
"My coaching staff and I are separating from Málaga but our union with this city will be
eternal," Pellegrini told Marca. "We leave the club qualified for Europe with the mission accomplished but it is unfortunate that this project changed. We had a time with the club that was
very rewarding. Everyone has the right to move on.”
The 59-year-old added: "Sunday will be my last match at La Rosaleda and will be very exciting for me. I'm not leaving due to the
matter of money but looking for a project that allows me to develop my profession conveniently. I am grateful to the directors of Málaga for trusting me but I think now the club must take
another path."
Meanwhile, UEFA has waived the second year of Malaga’s European ban after the club proved it has no outstanding debts. While the Costa del Sol team is still in a
position to qualify for the Europa League, a verdict as to whether its one-year ban for next season will be overturned arrives on June 4th, after the La Liga season has ended.
