Mexico and Panama vie for lead

[HEXAGONAL COUNTDOWN] Friday's Panama-Mexico match in Panama City is very improbable top-of-the-table clash with first place in the Hexagonal the price for the winner. Costa Rica looks to remain perfect at home while Honduras is seeking its first points on the road when the Ticos host the Catrachos in Friday's other game.

Panama has never beaten Mexico in qualifying, but that doesn't stop Coach Julio Dely Valdes from believing in the Canaleros' chances, "If Panama wins, it wouldn't surprise me."

Mexico and Panama are the only unbeaten teams left in the Hexagonal, which finds no team with more than one win.

Both Costa Rica and Honduras come into Friday's game at the Estadio Nacional in San Jose with question marks.

The big concern for the Ticos is the status of Real Salt Lake striker Alvaro Saborio.

Honduras is coming off a 2-0 loss to Israel in Queens and will be without defensive stalwart Mynor Figueroa.

As many as 4,000 Honduran fans are expected to cross the border and head to San Jose.
