Ticos look to move closer to World Cup berth

[HEXAGONAL] Following a 1-0 win over Honduras and 0-0 tie at Mexico, Costa Rica looks in good shape to return to the World Cup after an eight-year absence, and the Ticos could put distance between themselves and Panama with a win on Tuesday at San Jose's Estadio Nacional.

The Ticos stole a point in Panama City in the Hexagonal opener when they recovered from a 2-0 first-half deficit and earned a 2-2 tie.

Costa Rica has not allowed a goal since Clint Dempsey's first-half goal in the Snow Bowl in Colorado -- a span of 344 minutes.

Goals have recently been hard to come by for Panama, which has not scored in its two June qualifiers after scoring five goals in its first three games. The Canaleros will welcome back FC Dallas striker Blas Perez, who missed their game against the USA in Seattle with a stomach ailment.
