A Liberian playing in Indonesia offers us the gift of creativity

[VIDEO PICK: Magic Feet] Unless our readers were boning up on their knowledge of the second division in Indonesia on Sunday, they are sure to have missed today’s incredible footage, as did we.

Sriwijaya beat Arema ISL at home 3-1, but you wouldn’t be here if that was the full story. No, this fairy tale has everything to do with Erick Weeks, a 27-year-old Liberian with four national team caps, but that may change when the powers that be see this video.

Rarely will you see a player beat one defender with a “rainbow flick” and retain possession, and rarer still will you see someone beat two opponents, but to use this skill flawlessly when there are no other options, instinctually, that’s when soccer becomes art.

The incredible prelude leads to a very nice goal for Rizki Lestaluhu, an Indonesian U-23 who’s just 21. Don’t miss Weeks’ initial footwork either, it won’t be replayed ...

Also, a shoutout to the two defenders who resisted the temptation to cheat and rob us of this nifty little gem. The temptation to bring Weeks down with an EPL copyrighted "crunching tackle" or to handle that delicate chip as it floated by must have been enormous.
