Klinsmann explains U.S. roster selections

[GOLD CUP] Jurgen Klinsmann named his 23-player roster for the Gold Cup. The USA, which kicks off play July 9 against Belize in Portland, will send very much a "B" team to the Concacaf championship as only one player who started in the June World Cup 2014 qualifiers -- DaMarcus Beasley -- is on the 23-player roster. Three others -- Edgar Castillo, Joe Corona and Stuart Holden -- came on as subs. Klinsmann said that he had an agreement with MLS not to call up his MLS regulars for the group stage.

Each team can call up to four players from the 35-player short list at the end of the group stage. Five MLS players who started in the June qualifiers are on that list: Omar Gonzalez, Matt Besler and Brad Evans on the backline, and Graham Zusi and Eddie Johnson in midfield. Brad Davis, who came off the bench in each of the June qualifiers, is also on that short list.

The Gold Cup will be Landon Donovan's first opportunity to play for the national team since returning to the LA Galaxy from his layoff that extended into the start of the 2013 MLS season.

“A wonderful opportunity now to prove where he’s at now after his break,” Klinsmann said. “We’re just curious to see how he picks up the rhythm, how he picks up the speed and tempo and all his elements.”

Klinsmann said some of his Gold Cup roster omissions were based on the particular club situations of his players:

-- Carlos Bocanegra, the longtime captain, was not called up as he is seeking to switch clubs.

"With Carlos, I had a long talk, he basically is in the middle of another move, he's in the middle of another change," Klinsmann said. "He's going to leave Racing Santander and he is in the middle of making up his mind of where he wants to go, where he wants to continue his career. We simply agreed to leave him out of the roster in order for him to have all options open, to join a new team, right away from the start in preseason and not come in kind of late into this new opportunity."

-- Brek Shea will join the USA for its friendly July 5 against Guatemala in San Diego and then join Stoke City for preseason training.

"We decided that it was really best for Brek to join their preseason at Stoke starting on July 8 with his club," Klinsmann said. "It’s really, really important that he starts off well with Stoke and gets his starting spot well and breaks in, in order for him to get a breakthrough in Europe."

U.S. Roster:
GOALKEEPERS (3): Bill Hamid (D.C. United), Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake).
Not called up: Tally Hall (Houston Dynamo)

DEFENDERS (8): Corey Ashe (Houston Dynamo), DaMarcus Beasley (Puebla), Tony Beltran (Real Salt Lake), Edgar Castillo (Tijuana), Clarence Goodson (Brondby), Oguchi Onyewu (Malaga), Michael Orozco Fiscal (Puebla), Michael Parkhurst (Augsburg).
Not called up: Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), Carlos Bocanegra (Racing Santander, Spain), Brad Evans (Seattle Sounders),  Omar Gonzalez (Los Angeles Galaxy).

MIDFIELDERS (7): Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Alejandro Bedoya (Helsingborg), Joe Corona (Tijuana), Mix Diskerud (Rosenborg), Joshua Gatt (Molde FK), Stuart Holden (Bolton Wanderers), Jose Torres (Tigres).
Not called up: Brad Davis (Houston Dynamo), Benny Feilhaber (Sporting Kansas City), Brek Shea (Stoke City, England), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City).

FORWARDS (5): Will Bruin (Houston Dynamo), Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy), Herculez Gomez (Tijuana), Jack McInerney (Philadelphia Union), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes).
Not called up: Alan Gordon (San Jose Earthquakes), Eddie Johnson (Seattle Sounders), Bobby Wood (1860 Munich, Germany).

Note: Four players not called up from short list can join the team for the quarterfinals.

Wow! I did not see this coming. This is not the "B" team it is the "JV" team. I had no idea that USSF saw this as a throw-away tournament. It will be interesting to see some of these guys play in a bigger stage than MLS.

  2. Gregory Pappas, June 28, 2013 at 8:31 a.m.

JV is right! Where are Clint Dempsey and Michael Bradley?! They're not even mentioned here. Neither one play in MLS. It looks as though the "A" team is being left out to avoid injury and such. I just hope this strategy doesn't backfire.

  3. Edward Joyce, June 28, 2013 at 9:11 a.m.

Hyperbole alert. This is not JV. These are players who deserve a chance and are getting it. I cant wait to see Bruin, Jack and Landon together. Mix, Gatt and Stuart are our Midfield future. And I am looking forward to see if Ashe and Beltran can hold their own against Mexico. If we get through groups we can bring back the others. This is a wonderful opportunity to test out some future prospects.

  4. Luis Arreola, June 28, 2013 at 10:31 a.m.

JV?? Correct me if i am wrong but werent Orozco, Gomez, Castillo, Corona on that team that won at Azteca the only "historical" time ever?? Arent all of these players playing in Mexican Top division teams, better than MLS, by the way?? Much better. Donovan, Holden, Bedoya, Beasley are B team material ??? Since when?? This team should be expected to win it all at Gold Cup with Mexico who also have a very strong "B" team. No excuses please.

  5. Daniel Clifton, June 28, 2013 at 10:34 a.m.

I have to agree with Edward Joyce. I am looking forward to seeing Ashe and Beltran get a chance to play at this level. I want to see guys like Bedoya, Corona, and Diskerud play in the midfield. I want to see guys like McInerney and Bruin get some playing time up top. Last but not least I want to see how Donovan fits in with all of this. The USMNT can use him in the future, I believe to come off the bench.

  6. Gordon Hayes, June 28, 2013 at 10:41 a.m.

No excuses from Luis?????? Hilarious. This coming from a guy who's whole life is one big excuse like when the US beat Mexico at Azteca - one excuse after another. It does not matter though, please note he never played the game - just a daddy making comments.

  7. Vince Leone, June 28, 2013 at 12:57 p.m.

Dempsey and Bradley (and many other players) need a break. This is the perfect opportunity to give it to them and simultaneously give others a chance to improve their standings. We especially need to see if Holden can regain his form. The same is true for just about all the defenders called up for the Gold Cup. It would be great if Onyewu is back in form. He sat on the bench this past season at Malaga, but he was behind 2 of the best defenders in La Lia, neither of whom had serious injury problems all season.

  8. Vince Leone, June 28, 2013 at 12:58 p.m.

^ I meant "La Liga" not "La Lia," but you knew that.

  9. David Huff, June 28, 2013 at 1:01 p.m.

I wouldn't get too hot and bothered about the lineup, we could send the "Frosh-Soph" team for all I care given that this is a meaningless throw-away torneo. The real Gold Cup torneo that determines which team goes to the 2017 Confederations Cup will not be played until 2015. This fake version of the Gold Cup is just a COCCACAF $$$ fundraiser that was instituted for political purposes, nothing more nothing less.

  10. Al Gebra, June 28, 2013 at 1:12 p.m.

Gordon - You're a weenie but don't know dick. Jose Mourinho's playing experience is very limited, to be kind, as is Arena

  11. James Froehlich, June 28, 2013 at 1:21 p.m.

    Al G -- just ignore him. He's a hater.

  12. Gordon Hayes, June 28, 2013 at 2:52 p.m.

Al - there is a difference between never playing organized soccer, never really studying the game, never being an assistant at a top flight professional level and playing at a high level in Portugal....if you can't see that then sorry for you.....try and do some research before making comments........Sorry James, only a hater of race-baiting, lying, and the infection of ethnic coaches like Luis in our youth culture that think simply by their place of birth they know more than non-ethnic Americans. Just trying to help make people aware as I see this as a major problem.

  13. soccer talk, June 28, 2013 at 3:31 p.m.

Agree w/ David this is a great measuring stick blow off tourney to see if players are back and how far along they need to improve to fit in as Holden, and Donovan so yes this a good, but lesser overall team. Cuddos on LA staB at the MLS w/ the loco comparison. Try your simile w/ Mex and ther top leagues that have been around since forever. If the players named as your great "historical" Azteca line up included one player not along your racial lineage then perhaps we could view it aa an unbias American fan opinion that wants truly to see US soccer rise above other great soccer countries even your beloved Tri which are not great in comparison to the other staples.

  14. Luis Arreola, June 28, 2013 at 4:32 p.m.

Nobody said Tri was great in comparison to other "staples". Do you want to change the subject?? Not quite sure what you mean. There is no shot at MLS. Mexican league is the top 2 league on our side of the planet and has been around longer and pays much more. MLS is new and simply doesnt measure up to it. Just a fact. I dont care how you view my opinion Soccer. Facts are facts. The only USA win in Azteca = included those players mentioned above. My point was this is far from a "JV" team given that "historic" result. If you want to discuss another topic I am more than happy to do so with you. As a greatly true soccer USA fan how do you see USA rising above other great soccer countries ??? So as a MexicanAmerican, if I applaud more Hispanic Americans on the USA National team, that doesnt make me a "truly" American fan ?? Would you see it the same way with a proud African American fan rooting for the USA basketball team ??

  15. Luis Arreola, June 28, 2013 at 4:34 p.m.

Sorry, question was "would you see it the same way with a proud African Amreican fan rooting for the USA Basketball team only because he is proud of how his ethnicity is doing in the international level??

  16. soccer talk, June 28, 2013 at 6:44 p.m.

That goes unsaid everyone knows where the MLS lacks, and fails in comparison to the others. You did compare Mexico to MLS w/ your off topic pot shot. I simply asked you to compare it to the other countries that have culturally, emotionally taken in the sport as Mexico. The MLS definitely needs great players and more $ to attract and build the enigma which will take many, many years; but it is the starting block that we have here in the US. I just get ticked at all the crap it absorbs. It's not as attractive to watch, but we need to support and not attack it w/ ridiculous apple & orange comparisons. If it folds then we will be set back even further in development.
In the answer to the African Amer. basketball comparison. I would not knock a guy of being proud of there international team, as they are not constantly biasly blasting US on a vastly US soccer supported American home blog as you have consistently done on numerous occasions.
If I were to speak so freely to criticize the Tri over there I would expect the same kind of conflicting opinions that you have received. Especially w/ the the way Mexico is playing w/ fan hatred building. In fact, I probably get knifed for my outside team loyalty even if was 50/50. I would be firing right back if a Ghanaian were jabbing the US w/ constant criticisms following their drubbing of our U20s.

  17. Luis Arreola, June 28, 2013 at 10:44 p.m.

I was responding to JV comment. How can it be considered JV when the players come from a better league than the some of the players that play MLS?? Not off topic at all. I understand you not liking the comment because your pro MLS but it went with the topic. Topic was not MLS. It was why these players are not a JV bunch. I agrre with you. We should support it but not blindly. I can support the way Galaxy and Seattle have tried to play especially vs Monterrey and Santos. Why?? Because that is the style of play I can watch and enjoy. MLS has to play for the fans they want to attract. Why would fans just tune in?? They pay to enjoy a game that brings the style they want to see. In Mexico and many other countries the fans and media are the first and harshest critics of their national teams. Those teams and managers need to know that their fans wont accept mediocrity. As and "American" thats what I want bring to the table. What makes you think I have to folow your guidelines of what a true American fan is supposed to be?? I do what I do in a free country where as an American I am allowed to express what I feel should be done. For example, i have always said that USA should play an attractive style of play, attacking, they did and guess what, many here enjoyed it even with the results with U20's. If you were Mexican and you critisized El Tri you would be just another normal Mexican. I think your problem is that my last name isnt johnson because of it was then it would be tolwerable for you and there lies a bigger issue. If I were you i would watch GolTV or UniDeportes and cap it in English and watch how they talk about El Tri at the moment. Ghanian example is terrible. I am an American that expects more from its national team. You just dont want to accept me as an American. good news is you dont need to.

  18. soccer talk, June 29, 2013 at 12:10 a.m.

The Top Div Mex league vs.MLS was definitely an off topic pot shot whether u agree or not. I just belive that this Gold Cup team is not as strong regardless the JV, B team labels it receives. They are using this to tourney to further eval. different players.
If I were in Mexico {after enjoying auth. Mex. food) I could get away w/ constantly criticize my countrymen. But I am not there, and am sure if a Gringo wet their blasting the Tri he would be dead. Thank God you are American (as I am no more, no less, no better no worse} where you only get harassed in this great free country. Luckily your health will stay in tact. God bless you my American friend. You must be patient and constructively criticize, not expect the unrealistic comparisons to your true team.

  19. Luis Arreola, June 29, 2013 at 12:42 a.m.

Not a pot shot but whatever. Again, If you are Mexican it is normal to blast the Mexican team but if you want to believe it is not and you will get shot for it then knock yourself out. You can killed in the wrong part of town in USA as well my friend and just for throwing up a hand sign or wearing the wrong colors. So liuck has nothing to do with it homeslice. My true team, huh?? LOL. I root for 2 teams. Mexico and USA. This is America baby, love it or leave it. Dont let anybody tell you what is or what is not ok to do as a fan.

  20. soccer talk, June 29, 2013 at 9:47 a.m.

Tit for Tat dialogue. Maybe "pot shot, or stab" at the MLS has a different meaning to you which further strays away from original "JV" team opinions which most bloggers agree. My chances of survival in Mexico as a far less than the USA. We have many corrupt "barrios" in the USA, but nothing to collectively compare to the corrupt state of affairs in that country where people are fleeing for there life, leaving behind everything b/c of drug lords and the cartel thugs! U have a much better chance walking around Reliant Stadium wearing your TRi Colors supporting your team in the good old USA b/c of our blessed freedoms that myself, my father, grandfathers, afforded this great land to let people as yourself migrate over and express your loyalties for soccer or whatever else w/out being dragged away by G-men to never be seen or blog your opinions again. Let a white guy sporting Red/White/Blue at soccer arena thumping his chest and while cheering for his/her team. No way No How. Those fans are brutal, heck they throw lighters, ... at opponents on the pitch w/ lack luster security even at the better venues. No comparison, compadre!
I am not telling how to be a fan, just don't be shocked at all the ridicule u receive this blog of predominately 100% USA Supporters that tend to get a little riled at continuous criticisms in the manner that you deliver them blog after blog... WE have successfully left the topic. Bravo!

  21. Luis Arreola, June 29, 2013 at 11:18 a.m.

Soccer, The articles mentioned that the MLS players would not play because ofa Klins promise. Then someone said the new batch is JV. It is important to highlight that many of this new batch come from Mexican league and is important to highlight that it's a better league than MLS to take away the notion that this is a JV team. Comprende?? Corrupt?? So now we are talking about corruption?? LOL. We have many corrupt barrios, hoods and worst of all of these, corrupt white collar societies, whcih in my opinion are worst than any of your examples. And your ancestors were welcomed by the "true" Americans, the American Indian, our blood brothers. I was born here. So your kind let me in where exactly?? I was born here the same way you were, wether you like it or not homeboy. And pretty soon my kind will be the majority as well so we will see who lets who in. I guess those WikiLeaks guys feel the same as you. I have been to USA games and USA fans are no saints. You are genralizing and that is a mistake. I have rooted for Mexico and not once have I thrown anything at anyone. I also dont tell other races that I let them in in a country that my kind isnt originally from like yourself. This proves there is garbage everywhere and in every race. Pick your poison. I guess I ll have to deal with the "ridicule" then wont I. Thx for the heads up. Viva Mexico and USA tambien !!

  22. Simon Provan, June 29, 2013 at 11:20 a.m.

DAVID HUFF - That is not true. CONCACAF recently announced that each Gold Cup winner now has a shot at the CONFED CUP. The winner of this Gold Cup will take on the winner of the next Gold Cup in a one-off match to determine the team that will represent CONCACAF at the 2017 Confed Cup. All Gold Cup's finally matter.

  23. Luis Arreola, June 29, 2013 at 11:23 a.m.

Only difference is your kind have been here longer but I would nt be proud of how they achieved it if I were you. Not to mention how your kind brought people here against their will. Mexico's problems are internal and even in the most dangerous cities in Mexico there is still less deaths than in USA's. Fact. Look it up. Rich screwing the poor?? Mexico is up there but in no way compare to USA. I can go on and on. You brought this up. Deal with the ridicule. LOL.

  24. soccer talk, June 29, 2013 at 6:37 p.m.

Louie, your feeling are hurt b/c your select Hispanic players were listed as B teamers. I never said they were B players but this recent call up w/out Dempsey, Bradley... are not as strong as the last squad. I agreed that Mex. D1 league is better than MLS, but these players especially Orozco, and definitely Castillo did not outplay their MLS counterparts. Most MLS jump to oversea to play higher level soccer,

    and Mexico by default.
Now for fans; ahh Europe has it's hooligans, the USA has idiot fans that that act poorly. You prob. are not one as neither am I, but the overall fan behavior is 10x worse w/ crap being thrown on the field, lasers flashed at players in the Azteca. US venues are better as a whole by far. USA vs. Mexico at Reliant and, the Mexican club that played the Dynamo were both marred w/ idiot mex. fan behavior that escalated beyond the normal unsporting behavior and they were escorted out.
You have made this into a "your kind", my ancestors crap pile. I never said that I allowed Hispanics over here. Hell there is prob. all kind of different blood line flowing in my veins. U misconstrued my point about myself serving my country, along w/ my Dad, and grandfathers who died along w/ many other non white countrymen so that yourself along w/ other imigrants from all races are given the chance to come over here to hopefully better their lives. This in turn gives "all citizens from all concourses of this world to speak, blog, protest ... their views. So I am sorry if u took it racially, b/c I work in a 92% Hispanic workforce and my coworkers can attest that I am far from racial.
To the ridiculous comparison that USA is I worse place to reside than Mexico. I know Mexico is no where on the top 20 safest places in this world. People are not leaving the US to go over the border for a better life. Things are starting to turm around slowly over there and I pray it does, but the cartel has control, and the government is weak and crippled by it. Yes we have more crime and murder over here, but we are twice the population. Ironically the largest crime spots are those as Miami, Arizona, border towns like Laredo that house many illegals that inflate the crime rates. I can't believe your bold comment that "your kind" will soon be a majority, If that is not racial categorizing then wake up amigo!
Spare me the plight of my ancestors that took advantage of the "true Americans". Go back further if you want to make this a ridiculous ancestoral plight where (if u want to call them) my forefathers were serfs to Lords that around w/ their clans fighting a taking lands by might. Hell the history books are full of divide and conquer. Look at poor little ole Napolean that crossed over to impose his will on the Anglos, by murdering migrants in his path. Just part of history and how survival pans out. Thank goodness he got his butt kicked and and sent back home.

  25. soccer talk, June 29, 2013 at 7:15 p.m.

In Texas the Anglos will soon be the minority
And the Mexicans want their land back, it would
Probably only take another 18 mins. To kick that
Butt and send them packing. Easy, that was a fun, port shot on my behalf. Let my correct myself
And apologize for assuming u were not born here, not that it matters. Just get the feel that from all the past bias tri color blogs u are constantly defending against that you were born in Mexico.
You are a Mex/us fan Notice emphasis on
Lower casing (my opinion) true fan.
He'll give me some imagination. From a player
Like messi, neymar... Any day no matter what the
Skin color, language... As long as they have
American blood. US is improving and hopefully
Breaking the past molds that have held them
    Back. Go USA!

  26. Luis Arreola, June 30, 2013 at 10:55 a.m.

Soccer, you had nothing to do with my initial comment that was a response to Bruce. Yes overall fan behavior is a few times worse but overall "amount" of fans is also a few times bigger than USA. Fewer fans = fewer fans acting bad instances. USA venuesd are smaller. You made this into that with your "good old USA b/c of our blessed freedoms that myself, my father, grandfathers, afforded this great land to let people as yourself migrate over and express your loyalties" crap. If you cant take it dont dish it. You said to "let" people like myself migrate. I migrated here as much as you did. Its great what you and your parents did for USA but in no way did you "let" me do anything. How do you know my ancestors or that I didnt do the same ?? Does that mean I let you come here as well ?? Much less people are coming over here from Mexico. You need to look up some facts and it has doen nothing but improve this country in all aspects. Thousands of people retire in Mexico from USA. Entire communities. And that is the problem. You and people like you easily assume that a person with my last name wasnt born here and therefore think it ok to make such statements. I think we have already taken it back and there is nothing you can do about it. I havent lost a fight against an ANglo yet. Next time dont assume. There is nothing wrong with being a dual fan or a proud Hispanic. Get used to it Vato!!

  27. soccer talk, June 30, 2013 at 2:56 p.m.

LA, if you look I had already responded to the "B" team issue that u had w/ Bruce. Again this roster is not as good as last even w/ your overated Hispanic players that u feel were jilted. I responded to your last response which makes since to me. ????
If you actually read my last few blogs, said that myself, dad... and "many other non-white" died for this country that "let" which probably

could have been better worded w/ afforded the opportunity to come here to better their lives, and for those like U that freely bad mouth this country w/ the very freedom that yes ME, and other men & women from all nationalities died so to give U this right. Many other countries would have U killed on the spot for your loud mouth comments.
Fact! (Mexico not listed as as safe country, duh) US is safer than Mexico. 1000 may retire there but there much0 more than that coming over here illegally and are presently waiting for Obama's amnesty hospitality. Mexico vs USA = U lose that ridiculous comparison. If so you would be there w/ all the other criticizing Mexico fans fore mentioned by yourself. Posing ? - Why are you here if it is a better place. Hmmmm I think I answered that w/ the freedoms that this great nations opens to all.
Lets keep going w/ your weakycomplaints. That is ludicrous for me to believe that b/c your name is Hispnic that I think you auto. think u migrated here. If U read, I in fact were man enough to apologize, I assumed that b/c of all the bias you spew in these blogs that piss other others as well not just me. I read all this and it is understandable to come to that conclusion w/ your pro Mexico team "loyalties". By the way it is funny how you have assumed along that I am white. (Hypocritical I had more reason than U Senior Vato!)
" You have taken over " "Haven't lost a fight to an Anglo" Hmmm now that u have taken over, what is your next step Santa Anna? Fight, w/ whom big boy, Can your heart take it? I think that is the Cuervo talking. Just those stupid, concerning comments (feelings) has me thinking u have deeper problems in
    hand.Pathetic!

  28. Luis Arreola, June 30, 2013 at 7:49 p.m.

Soccer, maybe its not as good. Thats up to who's opinion that is bu my main "point" was it is far from being a JV team. What ever your opinion is of these :Hispanic" players is, fact is they play in abetter league than some A team players. Thats a fact. Opinions are different. Never said they were jilted. Another assumption of yours. "Let people like yourself migrate here" means only one thing to me but I accept your apology since your backtracking what you said. No shame in accepting you were wrong. It's a shame that you see my comments as badmouthing this country. I am American and I want to see it improve. How can it improve if people like you "assume" I am not American and feel attacked?? We both know why. In fact there are bloggers here that make the same comments I do about our National teams but it's ok because they dont have Hispanic last names. The ignorance in this great country is appaulling. Many other countries would have killed Martin Luther King as well. Oh wait, they did kill him. Bad example. I would think it is better and more hum,ane for a race to come here and show they are willing to do the jobs that many "Americans" wont do to improve their lives, humbly request to be American than come here and commit genecide against people that were already here. It depends what ypou want to compare to call ridiculous. I am here because I can do whatever I want and dont need to answer to you. By choice. I think it's about even ratio as far as people I piss off and that agree with me. Thats just about right. It is not understandable. There are many European people here that strictly go for their old country teams. Many. I can root for both countries and critisize both as well. Its my god given right. Majority in those states sums it up homeslice. Cant take my comments huh?? Next time dont put your foot in your mouth. Let us in?? Ha Ha. Dont worry we wont exterminate you after we are majority. We are not those type of people.

  29. soccer talk, June 30, 2013 at 8:38 p.m.

I only assumed u were native American by your constant bias remarks, not your last name. I explained it and I guess u still don't get by your return blog. I also have stated 2X that the Mex. D1 league is better, but not the likes of Castillo just by association. He played worse than the his MLS teammates last time up, so u still argue w/ what I priorly agreed.???
U assumed I was white, what about "people like U" - hypocrite! At least I had reason from what I have seen in your blogs. By the way don't kid yourself in the 50/50 agreement ratio to senior Lois blogs. Not sure where you get that so fact. U receive mucho more pissed off blogs from your bias rhetoric, which not only comes from myself. That should wake open your eyes to why u r always defending yourself. Go figure.
MLK died b/c of a deranged individual that was shot before a trial. Our country did not condone this, and would have put him away for it. That was a ridiculaous comparison. Genocide, please; people came to this country for a better life and were murdered, scalped by some natives that were here and in the end took the land. Divide and conquer as I told u before is part of history. What about the peaceful Incas that were eliminated. Weak, ridiculous, comparison could run rampant. Be grateful that we are not a vengeful nation or your homeslices over the border could be easily waving Old Glory.
Hey, that would save all the bad blogs u get and make you happy/happy/happy b/c it would open the door to more American players for the USA. Hell Texas could do the deed and it would prob. take about 18 minutes. Happy belated San Jacinto Day baby. Looks like I have plenty of comments muchacho.
You have personal, deep racial issues that lie more than the fun pot shots we both take at eachother. I admitted my poor chice of words and explained which you still misconstrue.
You directly say "your kind", "we already are close to the majority", "never loss a fight to an Anglo" AGAIN I say (try to understand, concentrate) America afforded people as your ancestors, my ancestors, any many other the freedoms that others countries do not by having the freedom of speech for u and others speak bias against the very country I defended as well as many others of all ethnic backgrounds. Maybe its this fact that makes me extremely Patriotic! Enjoy the free country we all live in including as you see as "your Kind","exterminate after you are the majority". By the way I see U had "no comment" as to why you stay here if Mexico is a better place to live and support your team. Cartel have your tongue?

  30. Luis Arreola, June 30, 2013 at 10:35 p.m.

Castillo starts for former Mexico league Champion Xolos who also had an impressive run at libertadores. He seems to be a solid contributor to that top team. Patience with him would be wise. Like we should with Jozy who was a non factor for many games until his latest performances. The only thing i am grateful for is that you are posting your ignorant comments for many people to see how we are not so far along in the bias department. You my friend are proof of that. I contribute the freedom of speach and equality to people like MLK, Lincoln, Chavez because without them we would still be in the 1940"s. I live here because this land belongs more to me than to you. I share the blood of the first Americans. Ever hear of Karma?? I go back and forth to mexico all the time. I have 2 homes. I am free to do what i want in both. I know you cant say that. Like I said I support both teams but your racist ass cant accept that. too bad. Get used to it ESE. We are here to stay and enjoy what is more ours than yours.

Agree we need to look at Castillo just as Jozy and hopefully dividends will [ay off. All any player as Jozy, Castillo... doesn't mean squat unless they show it w/ USMT! U definitely contribute to freedom of speech ese! That is a given. I can say I served America, my father, and grandfathers died for America my one and only homeland w/ no split loyalties , 100 percent Red/White/Blue, not 50/50. What have you done to contribute to your freedom of speech? I am not Racist! Your dumb jumbo ass blogs out for the world see w/ past statements as "your kind", "fighting Anglos", "majority take over" "exterminate"....That deep lieing racial tones that all see and fire back at you blog after blog. The proof is black and white for all to see. Its right in front of U but you are in denial to see it as well as all the others you have been pinpointed w/ your bias it rants.
Karma? "More ours than yours" RACIST divisions again spewing forth from your mouth! Santa Anna"s chump self tried pushing into Tejas and tucked tail and cowardly ran back to Mexico. Luckily we let Mexico stay put, or there would be no split homelands for U hombre. Stop w/ the stupid takeover crap. Defensio my friend. Me and U are the only fools still blogging here, or I am sure U would be getting blasted. Sleep Well.

I dont see it as spilt loyalties. We are not at war Captain America. I dont need to tell you what I have contributed to this country. Who the hell are you?? Obviously you need to mention your military service. Cool. Good for you. I see you dont like my comments. Dont dish it. Be a little bit more carefulas to what you blabber and you wont see those comments from directed at you. I guess "we let you migrate here" comment is rainbow colors. Good to see your true colors coming out!! Now you are an honest racist!! Good for you!! Nothing worst than a racist pretending to not be!!! We are here and we are many. Soon enough Amigo!! Buenas niches.

  33. soccer talk, July 1, 2013 at 12:39 a.m.

If you r rooting for 2 teams that is a split loyalty, especially if they play each other. I guess u could dig for a draw, but I feel u would side w/ the Tri. My service to our country means a hell of a lot, which u can't fathom b/c U don't get it. My passion is as yours to Mexico. Maybe I am a overly Patriotic, nothing wrong there.
I did reply to my "let you migrate" w/ not me personally allowing you or others to come here. As I said before, and you still misconstrue. My ancestors, as well as others of all races died so people could migrate to a free world to hopefully better their. I clarified that, and you distort it to your favor. At least come back and identify my comments and admit how they can be questioned as originally written in hasty blogs. Your dumb butt is not man enough to recant any of your Raciast, Bias BS. Even w/ "we are many", "soon enough" You plainly spew Raciaism for all to see. Ha, and you don't deny it. U maybe born here, but that's about it. Keep defending yourself w/ all the bloggers. And if there were a secret Mexican uprising as u relish, I could only hope it would be led by your lard butt. It would end "soon enough" (less than 18 mins.)

@Simon, I was not aware of that change but even if it is accurate it is clear that the winner of the 2nd Gold Cup sequence has an advantage because their team is more current in terms of player strength, form etc. relative to the winner of the 1st Gold Cup from 2 years prior (although they still should have at least a punchers chance). Nonetheless, still an improvement over the old system of blatant CONCACAF meaningless fundraising posing as a Gold Cup torneo. Perhaps a manifestation of the post-Warner era?

  35. Luis Arreola, July 1, 2013 at 9:53 a.m.

I am as racist as you, as I am only countering your ignorant and racist comments that you attempted to backpack. Everyone can see what you truly are. We know what you mean about overly patriotic. I told you we wouldnt exterminate you, already. Dont worry G I Joe. We are not that kind of people. We ll just get everyone to look like us. LOL. Arriba Mexico y USA Tambien!!!

  36. soccer talk, July 1, 2013 at 12:24 p.m.

Think what u may, I know I am not racist and admit it. People write these blogs in haste and interpretations get taking out of contest. Nothing wrong w/ me clarifying what I know is right. On the other hand U do not w/ racist categorization of "we", "your kind" the list goes on... You stand firm an do not attempt to retract the racist group that U see yourself other Hispanics set apart, yet inside America soil w/ crazy anarchy talk. It's your right! Maybe one day you will get your
vengeful revolution. In the mean time find us some players brown, white, green doesn't matter to me.

  37. Luis Arreola, July 1, 2013 at 7:22 p.m.

Neither am I but I wont let you say you let us in or you can kick our ass. Like I sadi we are good people. Dont worry.

  38. soccer talk, July 1, 2013 at 9:07 p.m.
