Report: Ronaldo to Return to United ... in 2015

During his presentation as Real Madrid’s new coach, Carlo Ancelotti declared that he is looking forward to coaching Cristiano Ronaldo, just as he has coached Zinedine Zidane and the Brazilians Ronaldo and Ronaldinho before him. Nevertheless, El Pais on Wednesday reported that the Portuguese is expected to meet with representatives from his former club Manchester United about a possible return in the coming days.

However, according to the Independent, the meeting is not about the player returning to Old Trafford this summer. Rather, United will wave a $65 million signing bonus in front of Ronaldo should he decide to re-join the English champion at the end of his current Real contract, which runs through 2015. That would be far less expensive for United than paying his massive $100 million-plus transfer fee -- and far more lucrative for Ronaldo, too.

El Pais also suggested that Ronaldo doesn’t see a return to Manchester happening this summer, either, and that he is actually excited about the prospect of a fresh start under Ancelotti.
