Dom Dwyer leaves Orlando City after MLS recall

[USL PRO SCHEDULE: Week 15] One of the biggest USL PRO games of the year will take place Saturday when first-place Orlando City hosts the unbeaten Richmond Kickers, but Orlando will be without Dom Dwyer, who was recalled by MLS's Sporting Kansas City. The 22-year-old Englishman set the USL PRO all-time single-season scoring record with 15 goals in 13 games.

“We are always aware of the loan agreement that they could call him up,” said Orlando City coach Adrian Heath said of the Sporting KC move. “We respect that decision and it’s something we knew that could happen. He’s a great kid to have around with a great personality, but we are going to continue on with our season. It’s time for one or two players to step up and continue that goal scoring Dom brought to the team.”

Dwyer, who has a total of 18 goals in all competitions in 2013, was one of four Sporting KC players loaned to Orlando City in March along with Christian Duke, Jon Kempin and Yann Songo’o.

Orlando also announced the addition of Phoenix FC defender Renan Boufleur on loan for the remainder of the 2013 season. The Brazilian will be available for selection for the game against Richmond, which is 7-0-5.
