U.S. SOCCER: Myernick names roster for Olympic qualfying

Coach Glenn Myernick has named his 20-man roster for the U.S. U-23 men's national team, which begins its Olympic qualifying campaign on Feb. 3 in Guadalajara.

The U.S. U-23s face Canada Feb. 5 and Honduras Feb. 7. The top two finishers in the group reach the semifinals, whose winners will earn a spot in next summer's Olympic Games in Greece.

The U.S. roster is led by full national team regulars Landon Donovan, DaMarcus Beasley and Bobby Convey.

Absent from the squad because of injuries are midfielder Ricardo Clark (sports hernia) and forward Edson Buddle (Achilles' tendonitis), while defender Oguchi Onyewu (Louviere, Belgium) and forward Conor Casey (Karlsruhe, Germany) are remaining with their clubs.

The squad is comprised of 18 MLS players, one A-League player, David Testo, and Zak Whitbread, who plays in England for Liverpool's reserves.
