Red Bull Arena fans get money's worth

[GOLD CUP: Group B] The Gold Cup continued to produce plenty of excitement as Monday's two games at Red Bull Arena saw Honduras beat Haiti, 2-0, in a game the losers dominated for long stretches, and despite two goals from the mercurial Rodolfo Zelaya, El Salvador had to settle for a 2-2 tie with Trinidad & Tobago after twice hitting the post.

In Monday's first game at Red Bull Arena, Zelaya scored two goals -- including a sensational free kick -- for El Salvador, but Trinidad & Tobago countered with goals from the Philadelphia Union's Keon Daniel and veteran Kenwyne Jones.

Zelaya had a chance to win the game in the 89th minute but his scissors kick was pushed away by Soca Warrior keeper Jan Michael Williams.

Haiti put on an impressive display of attacking soccer, finishing with 17-6 edge in shots, but lost to Honduras on goals by Rony Martinez and the San Jose Earthquakes' Marvin Chavez.

Led by Jeff Louis of French club Nancy, Haiti tore apart the Catracho defense time and again in the first half but was undone by some poor shooting.

The Haitians protested that a foul should have called shortly before Honduras broke away for Martinez's opening goal, but they weren't unnerved by their bad luck that continued when Chavez out the game away on a shot that took a slight deflection and fooled unsighted keeper Frandy Montrevil.
