The Italian Soccer Federation (FIGC) has confirmed that Lazio, Genoa, Lecce and eight players, including Stefano Mauri, are being charged with match-fixing.
The so-called“objective liability” charges are related to the Lazio-Genoa and Lecce-Lazio games played in May 2011. Lazio faces two counts of this charge, one for each game. The clubs’ managementand the eight players will be tried before the National Disciplinary Commission.
According to Football Italia, the eight players charged with sporting fraud are Mauri, MarioCassano, Carlo Gervasoni, Omar Milanetto, Alessandro Zamparini, Massimiliano Benassi, Antonio Rosati and Stefano Ferrario. Mauri and Zamparini are also charged with violating Article 1paragraph 1 of the Code of Sports Justice, the principles of loyalty, fairness and integrity, and Article 6 paragraph 1, prohibition of betting. The report claims that Mauri could face a ban of up tothree and a half years if convicted.
