Paris St. Germain on Wednesday announced that its controversial sporting director Leonardo
has resigned and will depart the club once the European transfer market closes at the end of
The former Brazil international, was handed a nine-month ban for pushing a referee at the end of a Ligue 1 game in May. That ban was later extended to 13 months, ruling him out for
the entire next season. PSG was also given a suspended three-point deduction for next season.
"We regret [Leonardo’s] choice but respect his decision and wish him all the best for his
future career choice,” PSG said in a statement. “We thank him greatly for his important contributions towards the project of building a top European club in Paris."
