France reaches final for the first time

[UNDER-20 WORLD CUP] Florian Thauvin scored both goals to give France a 2-1 win over Ghana on Wednesday that moved the Bleuets into the final of the Under-20 World Cup for the first time. France will play Uruguay in Saturday's championship match in Istanbul.

Right before the half, France went ahead when Thauvin and Jean Christophe Bahebeck played a one-two and Thauvin scored after rounding the Ghana keeper Eric Antwi.

Ebenezer Assifuah equalized in the 47th minute with a wicked shot off the post to give Ghana hopes. The Black Satellites were the underdogs after losing to France, 3-1, in group play and having three players suspended for the semifinal match.

But Thauvin, who played last season on loan from Lille to Bastia, put France back ahead with a quarter of an hour to play when he broke in from the right and beat Antwi with a low shot to the near post.

France will be without Lyon defender Samuel Umtiti for the final after he was sent off for a second yellow card in the 80th minute.
