What They're Saying

"The ad was not a good idea. You'd like the advertisement to have something to do with women's soccer, not with a washing machine. They should change things for the next ad."

-- German midfielder Fatmire Bajramaj on a ZDF ad promoting its Women's European Championship broadcasts that shows a female player juggling a dirty soccer ball with her feet before chipping it into a washing machine, which is set on "leather" mode. Critics of the ad have labeled it sexist. (Telegraph)

That's Nothing. There was an ad for Miss America or Miss Universe or something with a screen full of beautiful women in bikini's, which was played on Fox Soccer Channel just before the start of the NWSL match (the first nationwide NWSL broadcast) between Seattle Reign & Washington Spirit.

I remember thinking when I saw it, "Are they actually showing an ad with scantily clad women during a women's soccer match"?
