Marquette and Georgetown 1-2 in preseason poll

[BIG EAST: Women] Marquette and Georgetown are picked to finish 1-2 in the revamped Big East Conference women's conference.

The Hoyas swept the individual preseason honors with Daphne Corboz being named Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, Emily Menges being named Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and Emma Newins being named Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year.

Marquette, which compiled an 18-2-3 record last fall while winning the Big East title and advancing to the NCAA Championship Sweet 16, has six returning starters.

Georgetown lost 1-0 to Marquette in last year's championship game and finished 16-4-3 overall.

It will build around the trio of Corboz, the 2012 Offensive Player of the Year with 12 goals, Menges, a first-team All-Big East selection, and Newins, who set a school record by posting 13 shutouts in goal as a freshman.
