Idaho State and Portland State are co-favorites

[BIG SKY: Women] Big Sky coaches have chosen Idaho State and Portland State as favorites to win the 2013 women's championship.

Idaho State and Portland State were picked to finish first with 68 points each. Idaho State received four first-place votes and Portland State received one first-place vote.

After going 6-2-1 in conference last year, Idaho State was a co-regular season Big Sky champion, sharing the title with Portland State and Montana. The Bengals hosted the 2012 conference championship and defeated Weber State and Montana in penalty kicks to advance to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2006 season. They lost in the first round to Stanford 3-0.

Head coach Allison Gibson is the reigning Big Sky Conference coach of the year. The Bengals return seven starters, including the 2012 co-Offensive MVP Amanda Ellsworth and the championship MVP, Sheridan Hapsic.

Portland State  was co-regular season champion with Idaho State and Montana, after finishing 6-2-1 in conference. The Vikings fell short of winning their first Big Sky conference championship title after losing to Montana in the semifinals 3-2. They return six starters from the 2012 squad.
