Hall inductions for Moore and Vermes on Oct. 11

[DATEBOOK] Former U.S. national team forwards Joe-Max Moore and Peter Vermes will be inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame on Oct. 11 in a ceremony before the USA-Jamaica World Cup 2014 qualifier that night at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan.

Induction 2013, presented by Eurosport, will take place at 2 p.m. CT on the West Plaza of Sporting Park and be free and open to the public. Current Hall of Famers, as well as the Class of 2013 inductees, will be recognized on the field during the match against Jamaica.

Moore appeared in 100 games, including three World Cups, and his 24 goals rank fifth on the all-time list. He also scored 53 goals in six seasons with Major League Soccer's New England Revolution.

Vermes, the Sporting KC head coach, enters the Hall of Fame on the Veteran ballot. He scored 11 goals in 66 games with the national team and helped it qualify for the 1990 World Cup in Italy. He also captained the team during its championship run at the inaugural Gold Cup in 1991.

Vermes later was named the 2000 MLS Defender of the Year, leading the Kansas City Wizards to the MLS Cup championship.
