Experienced Illinois State gets nod

[MISSOURI VALLEY: Women] For the second year in a row, Illinois State has been picked to win the Missouri Valley women's title ahead of Drake and Evansville.

The Redbirds' attack will be spearheaded by back-to-back MVC Player of the Year Rachel Tejada (18 goals, 10 assists), and two-time All-MVC selection Anna Stinson. Illinois State returns eight starters in all, bolstering their hopes of reaching a third consecutive NCAA Tournament and fourth in the past five seasons.

Drake returns an experienced squad this season as 10 starters are back for a team that finished the 2012 campaign with a 12-5-3 record. Junior Ashlie Stokes paced the Bulldogs with a team-high seven goals last season, while senior Generve Charles added six goals.

After a rocky start, Evansville found new life in conference play, finishing 4-1-1 against MVC competition and winning the regular-season title. The Aces return 2012 MVC Freshman of the Year Abby Springer, who tied for the team lead with 12 points and had a hat trick against Illinois State.

Indiana State, Missouri State, UNI, and newcomer Loyola round out the voting.
