Juve Claims Easy Italian Supercup Win

Serie A champ Juventus tore Coppa Nazionale winner Lazio apart in its home stadium, 4-0, to claim the Italian Supercup on Sunday. Goals from Paul Pogba, Giorgio Chiellini, Stephan Lichsteiner and new signing Carlos Tevez completed an almost perfect afternoon for Juve at the Stadio Olimpico.

"I knew that we would face the match with the right attitude, and I am happy to have brought home for the second consecutive year the double of the title and the Supercup,'' Juve coach Antonio Conte said. "It was a deserved victory.”

Lazio coach Vladimir Petkovic lamented his team’s “naïve” performance: "We collapsed after the second goal and we were a bit naive, while Juve was clinical,'' Petkovic said. "But until the second goal, they didn't create much.”

The only blight on a marvelous Juve performance was the knee injury sustained by Claudio Marchisio, who limped off the field in the 20th minute, replaced by eventual goalscorer Pogba.
