Mourinho meets Goal Decision System in his EPL return

[VIDEO PICK: Off the Post] This is the first season the English Premier League is using goal-line technology, and Jose Mourinho's successful return to Stamford Bridge saw the toughest test yet for the Goal Decision System.

Liverpool hit the post in its 1-0 win over Stoke City Saturday, giving NBC and others reason to share how GDS animation looks on replay, but Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Hull in London on Sunday provided a sterner test for the Hawk-Eye based GDS system.

The first and fourth officials have watches that vibrate and read "Goal" if the GDS determines a ball crossed the line. This ball was nearly over on a Branislav Ivanovic header late in the first half with the Blues ahead, 2-0.

After the game, Sky Sports showed Mourinho realizing his team hadn't done what it takes to score in the EPL this year, and that's convince an official's watch that you have. Mourinho then enjoyed a quick chuckle with the official and Hull coach Steve Bruce -- surely Jose would've been just as gracious in a tight game ...
