Bayern with Pep Pursues Unbeaten Streak Record

Defending Bundesliga champion Bayern Munich meets FC Nuremberg on Saturday in its third game of the season with a 27-game unbeaten streak. There's big pressure on new coach Pep Guardiola to keep the streak alive and break Hamburger SV's record of 36 games, set in 1982-1983

Last weekend's meager 1-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt prompted more skepticism about Guardiola's "changing" the tactics of a Champions League winner. Bastain Schweinsteiger played in an unorthodox sweeping position, while Xherdan Shaqiri and Toni Kroos shared the space behind lone striker Mario Mandzukic.

Veteran Thomas Muller said, “Pep has made a few changes to team tactics but not to us as players. We all have our own strengths and weaknesses. We’re not really focusing on individuals right now; we’re looking to go in a new direction in terms of team tactics. We have so many options in attack that the focus for the next few weeks will be on defending."
