[AMERICANS ABROAD] Roman Martin has been invited to join the Clube Pequeninos do Jockey of Sao Paulo, Brazil, the club
known for developing players like
Kaka,
Ze Roberto and
Julio Baptista. Martin, a
product of the La Jolla Nomads, is the first non-Brazilian to be invited to play with the club in its 38-year history.
After competing in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy
Showcase in Dallas in June, Martin flew to Finland to join Clube Pequeninos do Jockey's team of 15- and 16-year-old players that began their European campaign in the U-17/18 division of the Helsinki
Cup, where they lost in the semifinals in a shootout.
Martin scored six goals on the tour.
“Roman’s play this summer was spectacular," said
Odir Martins, Clube Pequeninos do Jockey’s U-16 coach. "He is a highly skilled player with great vision. For him to travel half way around the world and
step into a new team and help us win at this level says a lot about the caliber of player that he is.”
Which of our national youth teams is he on ?
Once again, Southern California produces!
I just saw another article also about Roman saying he and his team won gold in the Dana Cup and bronze in the Gothia World Cup.

Seem him play --another national caliber Nomads's product. This kid has huge upside!
Sounds like this kid is creating a buzz in the international soccer community. Way to go!
Good to see the recognition --Roman Martin is one of those cerative midfielders that doesn't come along very often.
