Report: Chelsea Launches Suarez Bid

Sports Direct News reported on Tuesday that Chelsea has launched an audacious $46.6 million bid for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez that includes Blues striker Fernando Torres heading the other way. Indeed, the report claims that with primary Blues target Wayne Rooney looking increasingly likely to stay at Manchester United, it seems the club has turned its attention to Liverpool’s unsettled striker.
While Liverpool management has maintained it would not sell Suarez at any price, the report suggests that the Reds might be more willing to sell the Uruguayan to Chelsea than prior bidder Arsenal, given that the Gunners are seen as a direct rival for the fourth and final UEFA Champions League slot, while Chelsea is perhaps viewed as a legitimate title contender and thus out of sight for a club that finished seventh last season.
