Fenerbahce has been banned from European competition for two years after the Court of Arbitration for Sport opted to uphold the club’s punishment for its involvement in game-fixing in Turkey. The decision means that Fener would not have been able to enter this year’s UEFA Champions League even if it hadn’t lost the competition’s qualifying round series 5-0 to English giant Arsenal on aggregate.
Separately, the CAS also decided to uphold a one-year European ban on Ukrainian side Metalist Kharkiv, also for match-fixing.
